Musician Roger Henderson was a staple on the Washington, DC music scene, known for both his original music and intricate guitar skills. An award-winning singer-songwriter, Roger was one of the area’s most active and respected artists.
Roger’s multiple talents earned him parts in opera and Broadway productions, as well as gigs opening for Jonathan Edwards, Livingston Taylor, Schooner Fare, and many others.
In addition to performing in various venues including concert halls, clubs and coffeehouses, Roger lent his talents to many charitable organizations, including producing and performing in shows for terminally ill children.
His song Penny To My Name was recorded by the late Eva Cassidy, who also contributed backing vocals to his recording of After You've Gone.
Roger had a warm heart, an infectious laugh and an amazing talent. His death left a hole in the Washington music community. His musical legacy is a rich one, and his songs will live on and continue to bring us joy.
